GOLF SHOULD FEEL LIKE A NIGHT OUT, NOT A BOARD MEETING
We're a small team of golfers who got tired of running our Friday group off a shared spreadsheet and a WhatsApp thread nobody could find. Tuesday Night Golf is what we built instead — a league app that takes the admin off your plate and puts the competition and banter front and centre.
HOW WE GOT HERE
The problem
Our own group was running a 12-person Thursday evening league off a shared Google Sheet and a WhatsApp group with 6,000 unread messages. Scores were entered wrong. Results were posted late. Half the group didn't know the standings. We knew there had to be a better way — so we went looking for one.
What we tried first
TheGrint tracks your handicap beautifully. 18Birdies gives you GPS and scorecards. Golf Gamebook gets closest — group scoring, social feed, competitive formats. But by the time you've found the right mode, invited everyone, and figured out which of the seventeen settings actually matters, the rest of your group has already teed off. We wanted something you could hand to a first-time user on the first tee and they'd just get it.
The twist
We didn't want to build another golf GPS or shot-tracker. There are plenty of those. We wanted the social layer — the trash talk, the bragging rights, the moment when the leaderboard updates mid-round and your playing partner goes suspiciously quiet. That's the product.
The name
Tuesday nights. That's when our group plays. Nothing official. No dress code. No tee-time bureaucracy. Just people who like golf and like each other showing up to play. The name stuck because it describes exactly who this is for.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Golf is a social sport pretending to be a serious one
Nobody in your Saturday group is going pro. The best part of the round has never been your handicap index — it's the group chat that starts on the 4th hole and doesn't stop until the last round of drinks. We built for that.
Your organiser deserves better tools
Every golf group has one person who builds the spreadsheet, sends the reminder texts, and tallies the results at 11pm on a Tuesday. That person has been doing the job of a league director with the tools of a 2004 office temp. Not anymore.
Competition is what keeps people coming back
Casual is great. But a live leaderboard mid-round, a season-long points race, a Ryder Cup match against your mates — that's what turns a one-off game into a group ritual. We made that stuff easy to run.
THE PART GOLF APPS ALWAYS GET WRONG
Most golf tech obsesses over the wrong thing. Better GPS. More data. Swing analytics for people whose swing will never be analysed by anyone who matters. It's golf for one person, played alone, optimised forever.
We went the other direction. Tuesday Night Golf is designed around the group — the 6, 8, 12 people who show up every week and make it worth showing up. One organiser runs the league. Everyone else just plays. The app handles the scoring, the standings, the banter feed, and the moment at the end of the season when someone lifts a trophy that cost $12 from a trophy shop and acts like they just won the Ryder Cup.
That moment — that's what we're building for.
